The EAU Congress is one of the largest and most prestigious scientific events in Europe, with thousands of attendees taking part in its intensive programme. While the meeting’s importance cannot be overestimated, the social aspects of such a gathering have a special significance for our delegates – EAU social events is what encourages networking and relationship-building during the busy congress days.
Just as in the preceding years, we are organising two social events – the EAU Opening Ceremony and Welcome Cocktail as well as the EAU Evening. The latter promises to be an unforgettable event – it will exceed your expectations and leave you with the most sparkling memories of Vienna!
During the Opening Ceremony, several awards will be presented and the tone will be set for the five-day congress. The Ceremony will open and close with a spectacular show which will take you to the time of Mozart and the 18th-century Vienna. You will witness a beautiful story of his life and work as it rapidly unfolds on the stage.
And of course, at the end of the Opening Ceremony– the EAU Welcome Cocktail – an excellent opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues and make new acquaintances.

The EAU Evening will open with the Wiener Residenz-Orchester performing the music of Mozart and Strauss and followed by beautiful choreographic creations by the dancers of the Vienna State Opera. The ball will continue in a traditional fashion, with the ball-master inviting everybody to dance with the customary “Alles Walzer”.
Vienna’s legendary balls have a long tradition – and today they enjoy as much popularity as ever. Since the very first magnificent season of balls in 1814-1815, Vienna has become the European capital of ballroom dancing, with more than 300 balls taking place here every year – each attracting between 200 and 5,500 guests.
The balls are known for their waltzes, with “the Blue Danube” being the most popular one. Composed by Johann Strauss Jr. in 1867, this waltz is now played at all Viennese balls!

Enjoy a peaceful moment – tune into the beautiful performance by Agnes Palmisano, whose signature “Vienna Dudlern” style has captured the hearts of many fans. Accompanied by the accordion, guitar and violin, the show promises to be a true highlight after a busy day at the congress.

For those in a mood for a lively party and a modern dance, we have invited “Lou”, a band which will play their party repertoire – moving from the jazzy lounge music to the popular dancing hits.

If you are interested in the musical traditions of Viennese taverns – join us at the Rittersaal for the performance of “Trio Wien”. Their mastery of the old-school “Heurigen-Musik” will put you in a cheerful mood and offer a precious glimpse into the soul of this old European capital. Enjoy the music, the customary tavern snacks and drinks - experience Vienna!

The EAU Evening will treat you to a spectacular array of Austrian culinary specialities and, of course, the famous Austrian wine. From exquisite buffet arrangements, to the traditional tavern menu – you will find the taste of authentic Vienna delightful!
