Action-RPG Risen is coming to new consoles

by admin

RPG title Risen is coming to modern consoles, according to publisher THQ Nordic and developer Piranha Bytes. The two companies made the announcement via a trailer available on THQ Nordic’s YouTube page. The trailer comes with the description, “Alfaranga needs a hero, so will you heed the call?” »

Risen is a 2009 action RPG title that spawned two sequels.

Risen is an RPG with hacking and fantasy themes. It was originally released in October 2009. The game takes place on the fictional island of Varanga which is themed around Sicily. Like the Italian city, Faranga has an active volcano, Mediterranean vegetation and multiple climates.

The game follows an unknown character who finds himself on the island after his ship is destroyed at sea. After learning about the island, its inhabitants and the events, the player must join one of the three factions which are bandits, warriors or wizards. After that, the player will take part in Grand Inquisitor Mendoza’s war against the titans who are terrorizing mankind.

The game’s trailer is 41 seconds long. It begins with a shipwreck that deposits the nameless figure on Faranga. It then shows the character having adventures on the island, fighting monsters and men, and using magic. Some of the weapons seen in the ad include axes, bows and swords.

The game follows an unnamed character who has crash-landed on an inaccessible island.

The trailer was well received by fans, with some praising the initiative and others promising to buy the title when it finally comes out. Some fans have even gone so far as to request a port of all three games in the series. While there’s no indication that will be the case, it’s a particular possibility if the upcoming port receives a strong reception from fans and critics.

While Piranha Bytes was developing the computer copy of the original game, the studio outsourced the game’s Xbox port to a French overseas console team called Wizarbox. The game and its subsequent sequels are published by Austrian video game publisher Deep Money. Risen was well received by critics and fans alike and as a result spawned two sequels titled Risen 2: Dark Waters and Risen 3: Titan Lords.

It’s important to remember that the upcoming title is a port, not a remaster. While it’s too early to see what the game will look like on modern consoles, fans are hoping to get an experience at least equal to what they get on older consoles.

In other news, ex Team Bloober developer is working on a new horror title. The developer announced the game on Twitter and released an accompanying YouTube trailer that looks promising. Additionally, Santa Monica Studios has denied rumors that she is working on a documentary for the newly released game God of War: Ragnarök.

Risen is currently available on PC and Xbox 360. Starting January 24, 2023, it will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch keyboard.
