Booking.com publishes a study, its most in-depth yet, revealing that 72% of French travelers would like to choose more green destinations. In this context, the leading travel company has unveiled its list of the most sustainable cities in France. These destinations have been selected and ranked according to the amount of properties that bear the Sustainable Travel Association badge on the platform.

To help travelers make more sustainable choices and recognize properties that are already making great strides in this area, Booking.com launched the Sustainable Travel Property Badge in November 2021. This unique badge is an innovative solution that highlights organizations’ efforts in terms of sustainability. The award of the badge is based on 32 sustainable practices being recorded and analysed. An organization can also earn a badge automatically if it has a third-party certification or label, and the number of recognized certifications is constantly growing. In addition to those officially certified by the World Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), Green Tourism and the European Ecolabel, the Green Seal, Nordic Swan Ecolabel, Green Hospitality Ecolabel, Ibex Fairstay, Fair Trade Tourism, LEED and Edge have been added.

In just a few months, more than 100,000 organizations worldwide have already been rewarded. Thanks to this, Booking.com has selected and ranked the most sustainable destinations based on the size of properties bearing the Sustainable Travel Foundation badge on the total share of establishments to reveal a ranking of destinations with the most sustainable accommodation in France.
