Elon Musk has equipped the Twitter headquarters with bedrooms for employees

by admin

At Twitter’s headquarters, several rooms in the office have been converted into small dormitories, according to two sources. On Monday, employees returning to work at the company’s San Francisco site were greeted by unassuming rooms with threadbare mattresses, faded curtains and giant conference room screens.

A photo of the converted bedroom shared with Forbes shows bright orange rugs, a wooden bedside table, and a king-size bed, accompanied by a table lamp and desk chair.

A source said that no announcement or basic information was given to the employees, and it was assumed that the beds are for the employees for the purpose of being able to spend the night in the office. They said “It’s not a good picture”. This is another unspoken sign of disrespect. There is no discussion. »

Last month, CEO Elon Musk gave the thousands of employees who remained with the company the option to leave or stay on the condition that they had worked hard under the so-called “Twitter 2.0.” Since becoming owner and CEO, Musk has fired at least half of Twitter’s employees, leaving others alone.

It’s unclear how many bedrooms those are, but the source, whose identity is withheld by Forbes for fear of retaliation, estimated there were “maybe four to eight on each floor,” adding, “They look cozy.”

Another source, still anonymous, added that many of the bedrooms were on a largely empty floor. They noticed rubbish in the trash can in one of the rooms which made it look like someone had stayed there. “People are already working late into the night, which makes sense to some extent,” said the source.

Meanwhile, several former employees, unhappy with what they say is the company’s opposition to severance deals, have begun filing multiple lawsuits and arbitration claims against Twitter. Contract workers are also frustrated with Elon Musk. On Monday, a group of cleaners whose contract with Twitter had not been renewed went on strike and demonstrated outside the offices.

Musk has claimed to have slept on company property before — he actually did chirp on “Sleeping in the Factory” in 2018, a reference to the Tesla factory located near Fremont, California.

The Twitter CEO did not respond to a request for comment, nor did his communications division, which appears to have been completely disbanded since Musk’s acquisition.
