Skill-based matchmaking is not a new concept added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. While the developers previously stated that SBMM has been part of the popular franchise since 2004, this has become a topic of discussion. controversy with Modern Warfare in 2019.
While some fans like to add SBMM, the majority of the community is against it, stating that SBMM takes away from the casual gaming experience and makes matches too difficult and competitive. SBMM has come under heavy criticism recently, as the effects of skill-based matchmaking in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 were quite significant.
Being a constant source of frustration for gamers, a few guides have run walkthroughs claiming that users can simply disable SBMM. This article will take a closer look at the Call of Duty claims that players can disable skill-based matchmaking in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
Is it possible to disable SBMM in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2?
As mentioned earlier, there have been some guides circulating within the CoD community stating that players can stop SBMM using the Party Finder option. Unfortunately, it’s Fake. Currently, there is no way to disable skill-based matchmaking in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
According to the guide, users are advised to follow the steps mentioned below to disable skill-based matchmaking:
1) First, launch Call of Duty HQ and switch to the game mode you prefer.
2) Then select Find Group and switch to the Preferences tab.
3) Set the Playstyle option to Casual for Primary and Secondary.
4) Start the queue now and players will find lobbies easier.
Party Finder simply searches for players who use the same terms as you. This ensures that you play the game with like-minded party members and doesn’t change anything else about your team or enemy players.
Also, the party finder seems to have some bugs at the moment. To search for unofficial parties (not party members or enemies), players will need to use the “Start Search” feature in the Party Finder menu itself. This area is gray and nothing happens when you click on it.
While some players suggest that using this technique leads to easier lobbying as your party members will be more laid back, it is easily refuted. This is because the whole Party Finder feature is buggy and there is no way to take advantage of it. When users set Multiplayer to Casual, they are not taking advantage of the Party Finder, they are just waiting for a casual game in the situation.
Based on community responses in the past, skill-based matchmaking has ruined the experience for many. This has been anathema to many Call of Duty players who just want to enjoy the game without having to grind.
