Unite, the European B2B marketplace with responsible tax behaviour

In e-procurement, Unite is an original player: a combination of a marketplace, hosting of customer catalogs, and a network of suppliers. The B2B marketplace offers 7 million products in France and more than 100 million in Europe, ranging from office and IT equipment to tools.

From the marketplace to the e-purchasing tool

Created in Germany in 2000 by Sebastian Weser, the company – then called Mercateo – aims to revolutionize online commerce among professionals. Based on customer demand, you develop hosting their catalogs, the standard and the best basket, the best opportunity taking into account availability, delivery time and price. In 2022, the company becomes Unite, referring to the network that unites customers and suppliers. It has 700 employees in 15 European countries and achieved a turnover of 406 million euros in 2021.

Unite’s credo: optimizing indirect procurement, diversifying sources of supply

“Our customers are looking to digitize and improve their C-series purchasing,” explains Constance Martini-Sundage, Vice President Sales, Northern and Southern Europe. They want to reduce the number of creditors because it is expensive to keep in their system, around 1000! euros per year per supplier. Through the market, they can cover all their indirect purchasing needs with a single creditor. Their existing suppliers can be hosted, giving users a one-stop shopping experience. »

In the context of limited availability of some products, the market makes it possible to diversify sources of supply without creating a new one.

A corporate citizen, responsible and certified fair tax

In 2021, the group received EcoVadis Silver certification, which assesses corporate social responsibility.

In 2022, Unite becomes the first German multinational company to receive the Fair Tax label, which recognizes companies with responsible tax behaviour.

Paul Monaghan, CEO of the Fair Tax Foundation, said: “Unite is an example of responsible tax behavior and financial transparency. In a sector so often associated with tax evasion and secrecy, Unite is instead ready to commit to sustainable, fair and transparent trading.”

The “fair tax” label, which is subject to a new annual audit, confirms the group’s commitment to transparent and responsible tax behavior and confirms the company’s ethical behavior in relation to corporate income tax.
