The César Award-winning French actor and director has joined the cast of Stephen Frears’ highly anticipated ‘The Palace’.
This HBO Limited Series starring Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, Matthias Schoenaerts and Andrea Riseborough tells the story of one year inside the palace walls of a totalitarian regime as it begins to crumble. Gallian, who trained as a stage actress in the highly regarded Comedy Frances, will star in the series as the husband of Winslet’s character.
More variety
Will Tracy is a writer, executive producer, and showrunner on “The Palace.” Frears will direct and executive produce, with Winslet executive producing in addition to starring. Frank Rich and Tracy Seward are also executive producers, with Seth Reese, Julie Weiner, Jane Spira, Gary Steinart, and Sarah Delap also writing for the series.
Filming for “The Palace” begins at the end of the month or the beginning of February. Among Gallien’s best-known performances are his roles in ‘Yves Saint Laurent’ and ‘Me, Me and Mom’, a comedy that marked his directorial debut. Moi, moi et ma mère won four Césars in 2014, including Best Actor (for Gallian) and Best First Film. In recent years, Galen has also had several roles in English-language films, such as Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch.
“The Mansion” will be HBO’s fourth limited series with Winslet in the lead role. It was announced in June that Winslet has also been linked to star in the HBO limited series “Trust,” based on the novel of the same name by Hernán Diaz. Prior to that, she starred in the HBO limited series Mare of Easttown, for which she received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series. She had already won in the same category in 2011 for the HBO limited series “Mildred Pierce”.
