New in Connect The French conglomerate’s film and television distribution company Newen Studios is launching a comedy series in France, and the university meeting took place in Paris this week.
New titles include “Mr. Potiphar’s Foolish Plan”, which was inspired by the comic. It is produced by UGC and Les Films du 24 by Romain Rotjman, the team behind “Serial (Bad) Weddings”.
The film is directed by Pierre-François Martin Laval (Serial Teachers), and stars Christian Clavier and Isabelle Nanty. Claver plays a retired teacher who plots revenge against the children who made his life hell twenty years ago and ruined his only chance at love.
“Open Season” is produced by Starman Films and Curiosa Films (“Stars at Noon”) Directed by Frédéric Forestier and Antonin Forlon. The film stars Didier Bourdon (“Alibi.com 2”), Camille Le (“The Spoiled Sausage”), Hakim Jemaili (“The Good Doctor”), Thierry Lermitte (“Just Retired”) and Chantal Ladsous.
The film follows Adelaide, Simon, and their two young children. Locked in their one-bedroom apartment in the city, they dream of having their own quiet home with a garden. So the day they find a spacious country house, they quickly buy it. But once they soon discover the catch: there is legal access to their deed that allows the entire village to hunt down their property. It won’t be long before monsters start trampling the house and bullets start flying.
Our Little Little Wedding is a comedy film produced by Mikael Abekassis at the Les Films du 24 banner owned by UGC. The film is directed by Frédéric Koring (“Two Much For The Job”), and stars Camille Law (“Spoiled Brats”) and Ahmed Sylla (“The Climb”). The movie tells the story of Lou and Max who plan a very intimate wedding that explodes into a huge, crazy party that spirals out of control when their mismatched family and goofy friends show up out of the blue.
Newen Connect has just released Léona Connel from EVP Distribution to the newly created position of Commercial Director (CCO). Based between London and Paris, Connell will focus on the international and French film and television markets. It also develops partnerships in co-production and pre-sales.
During the French Rendez-Vous, Newen Connect will also host the market presentations of two titles, “Alibi.com 2”, the sequel to the fantastic comedy by Philippe Lachau with Julien Aruty, Tarek Boudaly, Elodie Fontaine, Natalie Baye and Didier Bourdon. Gérard Jougno, Ariel Dombasle and Lachaux himself; and On The Wandering Paths by Denis Imbert with Jean Dujardin (“The Artist”) and Jonathan Zakai (“The Office”). Radar Films’ On The Wandering Paths tells the story of a famous writer and adventurer who challenges himself to the greatest height of his life after an accident shatters his body.
