New updates are added at the bottom of this story…….

The original story (published October 19, 2022) reads as follows:

Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro Series Now available for purchase in multiple regions. Many are already taking advantage of the company’s new smartphones.

Several key areas such as performance, rear cameras and general user experience were praised. But there are other aspects that could be improved, according to reports.

For example, there are Pixel 7 owners not satisfied with the quality of the stereo speakers. In addition, the performance of the fingerprint sensor leaves a lot to be desired.

Now there are several reports that the front camera quality of Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro is really poor resulting in blurry, grainy or washed out photos.

Pixel 7 and 7 Pro front camera photos are blurry, grainy, or washed out

Many Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro users are not satisfied with the quality of selfies on their new smartphones. Apparently, the quality of the final images is very low, which is more common in mid-range smartphones.

According to reports, photos from the front camera of the Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro lose a lot of detail when lighting conditions aren’t ideal, resulting in blurry, noisy, or washed-out photos.

Pixel 7 series users see selfies as “smoothed” surfaces and skins. There is also visual noise and graininess in the image when ambient light is reduced.

I just got my Pixel 7 and tried to record a video with my selfie camera, but it looks like I have too much makeup on to smooth out my skin. Is there a way to disable it? I went through the settings and all the threads here from previous models and couldn’t find any answers.

Why everyone is ignoring the front camera of the pixel 7/pro. The selfie camera is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. In low light (I don’t mean completely dark) the camera is really bad. If you are using camera app fix it with software but for video it is very bad and also in all social apps. Worst during video calls.

The problem is said to affect both photos and video recordings. In the sample image below, you can clearly see how grainy the image looks.

Also, in the following sample photo (comparing the Pixel 7 Pro and Galaxy Z Fold 4 selfies), you can see both the lack of detail and the overexposure on the Google smartphone.

Unfortunately, there is no workaround to help improve Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro front camera photos. There is no official acknowledgment of this issue by Google yet.

We will update this story as new relevant developments emerge.

First update (October 21, 2022)

3:29 p.m. (Indian time): Some Pixel phone users (1And2And3And4And5) Now I report that the rear cameras have been over-processed with increased sharpness, contrast and HDR.

On the other hand, photos taken with a selfie camera (1And2And3And4And5) is frustrating because it does not capture enough detail. However, the problems have not yet been identified.

Update 2 (January 4, 2023)

2:22 p.m. (IST): Google has released a fix for an issue where photos taken from the Pixel 7 appear distorted or broken when zoomed.

Not a perfect suggestion but if you have a wearos watch you can set a timer and take selfies with the rear camera you can even enable portrait mode and it has a viewfinder on the watch (I use a pixel watch)
