Building a Better Boyertown invites couples to go back in time on a romantic Valentine’s Day stroll through Boyertown on February 11.
The Beary Loved: A Valentine’s Stroll Through Boyertown Festival takes place in downtown Boyertown from 1-5 p.m. and offers a fun and romantic date. Have brunch beforehand or dine afterward at local restaurants. During the event, a variety of street music artists will be popping up. For those 21 and older, Love Potion No. 1 is back. 1.9 Bar on the patio for Valentine’s Day-themed drinks.
“We hope this event gives the community something special and unique to do locally this Valentine’s Day,” said Eileen Marinetti, director of Main Street, Building a Better Boyertown, a nonprofit organization that seeks to preserve Boyertown’s artistic, historical, and agricultural heritage. .
BaBB offers free live street entertainment along the avenues as well as fun pop-up experiences. Couples, friends, and families can tour Boyertown and show their loved ones everything a map can’t say.
The event also provides an opportunity to visit Boyertown’s shops, businesses, and restaurants.
“Our restaurants and retailers will be offering special Valentine’s Day-themed promotions and encourage people to stop by and visit,” said Martinetti. “The event is timed (from 1 pm to 5 pm) so that people can either go for brunch and then enjoy the event, or walk around the city first and then have dinner.”
Plus, attendees can enter a Beary-Loved Basket raffle using baskets from Boyertown Enterprises.
Although Beary Loved is free to attend, some activities may require a fee. The event will also take place rain or shine.
“This event will take place despite all weather events. Live entertainment will move inside our stores and restaurants in case of inclement weather,” Martinetti said.

Valentine’s Day holiday

Also held this weekend, the Vanity Tintype returns to Boyertown for a two-day Valentine’s Day concert in the French Room of the USAAF’s General Carl Spaatz National Museum from February 10-11. Book a 30-minute session to create a keepsake with your sweetheart or best friend, or enjoy a Victorian-style selfie and have your picture taken in the French-style home section of the museum. Then you will make your image on a thin sheet of metal.
According to the Building a Better Boyertown edition, a tintype, or tintype, is an image created by creating a positive image directly onto a thin metal plate coated with dark lacquer or enamel. Tintypes first appeared in America in the 1850s and gained popularity in the 1860s and 1870s, becoming less common in the early 1900s, but have been revived as new and modern in recent years.
