RIYADH – The Saudi Fashion Authority, the French Embassy and Alliance Française have announced the launch of “La France et la Mode” – a new initiative aimed at strengthening relations between Saudi Arabia and France through fashion.
The two-day event, which will be held at the Art Power Foundation, Riyadh, from May 27-28, will bring together fashion enthusiasts for talks, workshops, exhibitions, and training.
The event will be opened by Ludovic Boy, Ambassador of France to Saudi Arabia, and Burak Kakmak, CEO of the Saudi Fashion Authority.
Saudi and French industry experts will present their work and share their views on the impact of the fashion ecosystem in today’s world. Speakers will discuss the most important issues facing the industry, from sustainability to craftsmanship and brand communication. French and Saudi designers will present their work in a specially sponsored exhibition.
The second day will be devoted to exchanging experiences, with participants invited to share their knowledge and experiences during workshops that will focus on the practical aspects of creating and developing a brand.
Founded in 1999, Art Power promotes arts and culture in Saudi Arabia and supports emerging designers through a training institute dedicated to fashion and design, hosting exhibitions and conducting cultural exchanges.
Princess Adwa bint Yazid bin Abdullah, founder and director of the Art Power Foundation, plays a very active role in the development of arts and culture in the Kingdom, and has long supported French-Saudi cooperation in the fashion sector.
Hand in hand, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France seek to develop cultural exchange and improve cultural understanding by exchanging knowledge in various fields, promoting dialogue between experts from the two countries, and facilitating the training of young professionals.
This event is part of the month of Europe 2023. The festival takes place from May 9 to June 9 in Jeddah and Riyadh, and is organized by the embassies and cultural institutes of the European Union member states to celebrate European culture.
