YouTube is killing a trending feature next month

by admin

It’s the go-to platform for watching videos, but if you’re into YouTube, prepare to see a popular feature disappear next month.

The Google-owned platform has confirmed that it will shut down YouTube Stories in June.

First launched in 2018, Stories allowed creators to post short, mobile-only videos and expired after seven days.

YouTube says the change is underway to prioritize other platform features.

In a blog post, she explained, “Today there are so many ways to compose on YouTube – from community posts to shorts to Long and Live. To prioritize these key features, Stories will disappear. »

It’s the go-to platform for watching videos, and if you’re into YouTube, prepare to see a popular feature disappear next month.

The change will take effect on June 23, after which the option to create a new YouTube story will no longer be available.

All previously published stories will expire seven days after their initial sharing.

If you regularly use YouTube Stories, YouTube recommends that you check out Community Articles or YouTube Shorts again.

“YouTube community posts are a great option if you want to share lighthearted updates, start conversations, or promote your YouTube content to your audience,” she explained.

“Among creators who use both posts and stories, posts generate significantly more comments and likes than stories, on average. »

Although YouTube previously limited access to community posts for certain creators, it recently expanded the reach to millions of people.

To create a forum post, log into YouTube and select “Create Post” at the top of the page.

In the box at the top, enter a message to create a text post, add text to an image, GIF, or video post, or choose to create a video, poll, or photo.

Once you’re happy with your creation, select Publish.

Alternatively, if you still want to keep making short videos, YouTube recommends YouTube Shorts – a tool that lets you record vertical videos straight from your smartphone.

YouTube added: “With new features for short programs and community posts to be announced throughout the year, we are committed to investing in new and innovative tools to help you grow your audience on YouTube. »

“We can’t wait to see what you create in all of these formats: community posts, news, live streams and long-form content! »
