Florida Panthers defenseman Radko Judas is known for his big shots, but he was on the wrong side in the first period of Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday night.
Judas left the match and headed to the training room after being hit hard by Ivan Barbashev.
He was not benched to start Game 2 and the team announced that he would not return to the game shortly after.
As Judah was heading towards the blow, Barbashev saw him coming and delivered an even bigger blow.
Judas was apparently punched in the face by Barbashev’s shoulder, then slammed into the ice head.
Judas was already hurting in the first game because he left that game in the first half to come back for the second time.
As a precaution and to more easily distribute the ice, the Panthers dressed seven defensemen and 11 forwards for Game 2.
Florida entered the second half trailing the Golden Knights 2-0 thanks to a powerful goal from Jonathan Marchesault and another from Alec Martinez.
Nicholas Roy made it 3-0 early in the second.
