A new Prince of Persia game has been unveiled as part of this year’s Summer Game Fest.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a new 2D action platform game, developed by Rayman Legends studio Ubisoft Montpellier. Playing as a Persian warrior named Sargon, you will explore the cursed region of Jebel Qaf in search of the missing prince Ghassan.

Built using a Metroidvania structure, the large map covers a variety of environments inspired by Persian mythology, including the “majestic” Castle of Knowledge and outdoor areas such as the Hyrcanian Forest. Each area contains platforming hazards, puzzles, and combat encounters, as well as new Time Powers to unlock and complete side missions.

The Summer Game Fest trailer showed several glimpses of The Lost Crown challenges, including a boss battle with Jahandar the Manticore.

Ubisoft also revealed that the soundtrack for The Lost Crown was composed by Mentrix, an Iranian-born composer. They are joined by Gareth Cocker, a composer best known for his work on Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is scheduled for release on January 18, 2024. It will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC and Amazon Luna. More information about the game will be revealed as part of Ubisoft’s Forward event next week, June 11.
