Game moves adapted to Shield Core VI It’s finally here and it’s certainly promising, but not everyone is happy with what they see.
The new screenshots (shown below) walk us through a small part of the game, showing chain attacks and boss fights.
First of all, the game looks beautiful and a lot has been spent just on the environments, which is a huge step up from older games.
However, it’s very clear that the game now uses a combination of soft and hard orbit locks. It’s a huge departure from older games and seems to be the main sticking point in the long run. armored core Fans.
Personally, I’m open to seeing how this game actually pans out. Yes I played it all and finished armored core Game since original 1997 but old controls and camera setup need updating.
However, the problem here is that instead of updating the old system, they seem to have swapped everything out and just added it in a very standard managed lockdown setup.
To explain, one aspect that made armored core The freedom of movement and targeting was compelling. You took control and were responsible for keeping your enemy locked down in a pretty convenient way.
Orbit lock removes both player freedom and agency, in favor of simplifying controls for most players. I understand why the decision was made, but I was hoping for something more subtle and thoughtful.
While some say this orbit-locked configuration is a direct copy of the soulsI guess that’s not at all accurate, because there’s a lot going on here.
Again, I still reserve judgment until I play the game fully, but for now armored core The fan base is very divided and I can totally understand why.
Shield Core VI Released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and PC on August 25.
