Former TF1 boss Gilles Bellison heads Unifrance Film and Television Foundation

by admin

Gilles Bellison, former president of TF1, has been elected president of the French association for the promotion of cinema and television, Unifrance. He will succeed Serge Tubiana and Hervé Michel.

Other candidates for the presidency of Unifrance are Frédéric Bredin, former president of the National Council of Cinema (CNC), Anne Durobetti, former president of Arte France, and film producer Marie Massmontel.

More variety

Bellison was elected by a 60-member executive committee, which included representatives from the major unions and committees. Pelison is a veteran of the French media and entertainment industry, but he may not be as familiar with French cinema as his predecessor Tubiana, who ran Cinema française and Les Cahiers du Cinéma before joining Unifrance.

The former head of Accor, Eurodisney and Bouygues Telecom in 2009 joined the commercial TV channel TF1, owned by Bouygues, as an administrator. He became president of TF1 in 2016 and recently resigned from the network, which is now managed by Rudolf Bellmer.

During Pellison’s tenure at TF1, the network group increased its production involvement in France and internationally through Newen, which is home to dozens of production companies around the world.
