14th of July is the celebration of a turning point in the French Revolution on Friday 14th July. Fortunately, many of Austin’s restaurants—French and otherwise—are picking up the slack, with plenty of champagne everywhere.

Friday 14th July

  • A French East Side restaurant, Justin’s Bastille Day epic called No Resistance, offers plenty of French music, entertainment, food and drink. There’s punk anchor Sabrina Ellis and DJ Eric Debris and Zabot, a burlesque show by Robbie Knight, Lorde’s Friday the 13th party, a decadent floral photo booth, photos by French artist Richard Pelia. On the catering side, the restaurant will be open for Ă  la carte dinners until 11pm, and the Le Beef pop-up will serve burgers and fries from 11pm until 1am.   • French Sandwich and Chicken Austin Rotisserie is reopening its food truck in Austin’s Far South and Ban Far Out on July 14 with specialties like baguettes and oysters as the main menu. The bar will serve French 75 and French Cronenburg white beers. starts at 3 p.m. (8504 South Congress Street, far south of Austin)

Saturday 15th July

  • Of course, the French Committee will celebrate Bastille Day by opening its grounds to the public with pre-made picnics of cheese, bread, jam, and pasta, and a live zydeco band from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The entire event runs from 10 am to 4 pm. (802 San Marcos Street, Downtown Austin)

From Friday 14th July to Saturday 15th July

  • The Swoop House is a pop-up restaurant hosted by catering company 2 Dine 4 Dine July 14th for two nights. The tasting menu includes snails, croque medames, pepper steak and creme brulee. Dinner is $95 per person with seating at 7:30pm each evening. (3012 Gonzalez Street, Juval)

From Friday 14th July to Sunday 16th July

  • French restaurant 1417 is serving up a range of culinary specialties and cocktails for the weekend of July 14th. This includes braised short ribs, braised cabbage, scallops, French 75s and French mules. (1417 South First Street, Bouldin Creek)
