The Dallas Stars signed a restricted free agent, Riley DamianiFor one year, $775,000, according to Cap Friendly (Twitter link). Despite the pay cut at the NHL level, Damiani will see his salary drop from $70,000 to $117,500 at the AHL level.
Drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Damiani has fared much better than expected, earning an NHL level at age 22 last season. Damiani played in seven games, scoring one goal and one assist, playing a very limited role with Dallas.
It was very different for Damiani at the AHL level with the Texas Stars, as he was constantly in the top nine for the team. Damiani has played 151 matches so far for the young star, scoring 37 goals and providing 66 assists, always being in the top ten strikers in points.

- Like Damiani, the Anaheim Ducks signed a free agent to the same restriction today, emphasis One year round trip Benoit-Olivier Grollix. Drafted 54th overall the same year as Damiani, Groulx has more experience at the NHL level, scoring three points in 20 total games. Having spent most of his time in the AHL, Groulx scored 39 goals and 51 assists in 145 games with the San Diego Gulls.

Chenoweth previously served as the team’s head coach since the 2017-18 season, making the playoffs four times in six seasons. Prior to his tenure with the Hitmen, Chynoweth spent the better part of 15 seasons as general manager of the former Kootenay Ice, becoming team president after the 2010-11 season.
